WELCOME TO PLANT BAE!
Named by USA Today as one of the top 20 vegan restaurants in the Southeast, Plant Bae is an all-American vegan restaurant with locations in downtown Montgomery, Alabama as well as central Opelika, Alabama. While the menu is meat- and dairy-free, the taste is universal. We invite herbivores, omnivores, and anyone in between to try it out so they can say, "I've been Bae'd."
The Plant Bae story started in early 2018, when Dr. Quebe Merritt-Giles decided to become vegan. A series of events helped her make the decision. She'd had trouble nursing her daughter and later realized her child did not respond well when she consumed dairy. In addition, a visit to the doctor's office revealed that Quebe's cholesterol levels were higher than normal, thus solidifying her decision to remove meat and dairy from her diet. After being vegan for two years; traveling across the country eating plant-based food in New York, Las Vegas, and Atlanta; and catering vegan food in her hometown, Dr. Que opened her restaurant in Montgomery, AL on May 8, 2020.
Credited with being the city of Montgomery's only fully vegan restaurant, Plant Bae is poised to become a staple in the downtown community. Plant Bae is an all-American vegan restaurant. While the menu is meat- and dairy-free, the taste is universal. We invite herbivores, omnivores, and anyone in between to try it out so they can say, "I've been Bae'd."
"I'm so proud to offer plant-based food to the elderly through the Granny's Baeby program. I have no memories of any of my grandparents because they all passed away when I was a toddler or before I was born. I can't help but wonder if their lives could have been extended through access to high quality food. The Granny's Baeby program is our tribute to our ancestors! " -- Dr. Que, owner, Plant Bae
The Granny's Baeby program offers complimentary plant-based meals to the elderly, ages 55+ on specific Saturdays, 9 AM - 11 AM. Check back here to learn of the next Granny's Baeby event.
